Welcome to the Home Yoga website!

Whether you are new to yoga or an experienced yogi, I can help you develop and deepen a practice suited for your specific needs.  I teach yoga based on the ISHTA style developed by yoga master Alan Finger of Be Yoga.  ISHTA stands for the Integrated Science of Hatha, Tantra and Aryuveda.  Each person has different needs based on who they are as individuals.  By studying privately with me, you can learn to honor the many facets of you-through yoga. 

We will begin with an assessment of your physical, mental and spiritual health through various stretching and strength tests, and through discussion. 

Yogis belief that the self encompasses not only the tangible, physical body, but a higher self which embraces the universal.  Yoga means union or yoga. Through yoga, one is creating a dialogue between the mind and body in order to experience the union of the ego driven self with the universal self (non-duality).  The path towards this blissful stae of oneness is different for everyone.  Studying privately with me will help you to get the most out of your practice so that you can experience the profound joy of yoga.

THE CLASS

First, we focus on the physical body with Asanas (yoga postures). You may need a slower pratice or a faster paced practice. We work together to get it just right for you. I will cater the class to your level and yet I will provide you with enough of a challenge to help you in your area of weakness.

Secondly, we work with the breath using Pranayama exercises.  Prana means life force. Yama means to extend and control. The breathing techniques of Pranayama therefore help extend the life force.

The last and most important part of the class is meditation.  Here is where all the yoga postures and breathing exercises become most useful towards helping one achieving a calm and centered state of being, which is known in yoga as Samahdi.  Meditation has been proven to help lower blood pressure and heart rate and improve anxiety and depression.

Over time, the practice of yoga begins to positively change many aspects of our lives, be it how we encounter relationships with others or  approach the stress of our jobs.  Yoga can help us embody our true selves and lead healthier, happier lives! 

DETAILS

Classes are one hour long, and I supply all the equipment you will need (yoga mat, blanket, yoga props, music). Classes are held in either your home or your office between the hours of 7am till 9pm, so you can always fit yoga into your busy schedule.

SPECIAL POPULATIONS

I am qualified to teach yoga to: prenatal and postnatal women, people with oesteoperosis, children and teens, and beginners.  

While I teach privately, I can also teach couples or groups-as many as your space can accomodate. Often, doing yoga with a friend or partner not only makes it fun but more affordable.
